To say that the crews had a good weekend would be an understatement. No, none of the rowers were at the Street on Saturday night, but their performance on Lake Carnegie on Sunday at the Princeton Chase regatta was nothing ...

"No, none of the rowers were at the Street on Saturday night, but their performance on Lake Carnegie on Sunday at the Princeton Chase regatta was nothing short of dominant. "
Is this writer a plain retard. I mean what does this mean - that they should have been getting hammered at that shithole Cloister?
Marty Crotty is one asshole coach. Wonder how he got the job. And Greg Hughes the leader of the Princeton Crew program now that Curtis is gone.
I mean I was part of the boathouse - although on the open team - in the late 90s. If somebody back then had told me that Greg Hughes and Marty Crotty are going to be the lead coaches of the men's programs at that time I would have laughed. I can't think of a more jerk arrogant person than Hughes. He had a mullet once as a freshman!
Why doesn't Princeton recruit coaches from outside its alumni body?
@bitter openweight rower '97
Greg Hughes led the lwt men to an undefeated Spring season last year.
Marty Crotty just proved himself by coaching the lwt men to their first Chase win in years. The lwt's also just rowed a faster time than the lightweight national team at the Head of the Charles.
That's why Princeton recruits coaches from its alumni body.
I'm of the things speak for themselves school. Are the programs full of rowers? Are the results acceptable? "Bitter Openweight Rower '97 worked with Hughes and Crotty 12 years ago. It looks like he missed something. Hmmm.
Mullets are sweet...
Agreed. Mullets are awesome. Go Canadaaa!
hahahaha

You're 12 years out of college and still posting on student web forums. You must be living the dream.
glendale? glendale kegsfor? is that you??
Like him or not, Hughes is a good candidate for future success. He builds a culture of a hard working team. This is probably the most important thing a team can have. To have successful program on all levels this is first and foremost--"pretty rowing" is secondary.
This doesn't justify hiring strictly from within the alumni base. Hughes and Crotty aren't comparable...though you do see that happening. Kennett at Cornell, Cooke at Brown. Both very successful coaches.
