Sick article Raleigh!
In Hoc.
beatles laser light show?
Am I right to say the the Remasters are available in 2 pressings. Made in USA and the other in the UK?
Errrr...which one is better?
All the remasters were done from the same original stereo analog master tapes (with the noted exception of Help! which was made from George Martin's 1986 digital master). The versions released in the UK should be no different in sound quality than those offered in the US.
Great article! I have been listening to the mono set and Abbey Road for the last two weeks and I agree with the author's assessment. Will be getting the stereo versions of titles mentioned in the review.
Nice job Raleigh! This is a great article.
"...listen to Harrison's guitar scream in the opening riff..."
I'm pretty sure that McCartney replaced Harrison on the title track of Sgt Pepper. I'm not exactly sure of the details, but I seem to recall that Paul wasn't happy with the the way George was playing it, so he pretty much pushed him aside and did it himself. Could be wrong on the details, but I'm pretty sure that opening riff is McCartney.
I looked it up and I think you are correct Pat. The opening riff is in fact played by McCartney. Good find.
Btw. Anyone reading this post your favorite Beatles song/album
A Day in the life - best song, but Revolver is the best album
Great article, Raleigh! Having been a huge Beatles fan since 1978 (I got into them after watching Eric Idle's Beatles parody "The Rutles"), it's pretty tough to pick just one favorite album or song. The easier approach would be to answer which album or song I like least. But -- if I had to pick one of each of the favorites, I'd say "I Saw Her Standing There" (Great rock and roll song ... a PERFECT rock and roll song so good that many of my friends thought it was a cover written by one of the early rock pioneers like Chuck Berry or Little Richard. Album? ABBEY ROAD, although REVOLVER or THE BEATLES (White Album) could easily take its place depending on my listening mood.
