As I observed in commenting on the story about Tierney's departure, the insiders - including his ,long-time assistant - are bailing because thet sense that the glory days are over. Marginal jocks are no longer being accepted - with or without the cover of "boosters" - since Hargadon was ousted.

Princeton will, survive, and will probably be the better for it.

Yeah I can't wait until walking around campus at Princeton has the feel of walking around MIT. Who wouldn't want all math and science geeks?

Yeah I can't wait until walking around campus at Princeton has the feel of walking around a state school. Who wouldn't want all athletes and frat jocks?

The glass may be half full. Maybe Coach T and Metz had lost their passion for Tiger lax; maybe they were disappointed that the relationship that they had developed with Hagadon had to be reestablished.

The upside is-- does anyone doubt that Gary Walters will find THE best replacement, find the 2nd coming of Coach T.

Touch and Princeton01-- you both are right. Princeton can and should have geeks and jocks in proper balance. The jocks at Princeton are not the "neanderthals" that populate State U and the nerds at Princeton can be more interesting conversationalist. The key is to find another Coach T who can utilize the smarts of a Tiger Lax players as well as Computer Science Professors who enhance the verbal skills of their introvert geniuses!!!

@ Snarky Troll -- Get lost. I enjoyed Sandy's comment and found it perfectly coherent and appropriate. It did a good job of turning the conversation away from some lame "we need only jocks" or "jocks are neanderthals" argument. Furthermore, it was upbeat and on the topic of Tiger lacrosse.

Thanks for being a jerk, we're all better for your contribution.

What's the story behind the story here? I think we're getting fed the party line. Why has the long-time coach quit his sinecure, and his long tie associate refused promotion to the top job? Is the DP capable of telling us what is really going on here, our are they committed to telling us the sugar-coated version?
