To describe her as "the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants" doesn't make sense - see this correction in the NY Times:

"An article on Friday about Judge Sonia Sotomayor, a possible candidate for nomination to the Supreme Court, referred incorrectly to her parents. As people who moved to New York from Puerto Rico, they were United States citizens. They were not “immigrants.”"

May you provide a compassionate contrast to your fellow Princeton alum, Sam Alito, who cares only for the richest and most powerful and whose opinions are akin to those of a century ago in striking down laws in favor of minimum wages and maximum hours.

Sotomayor’s assertion that “a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male” really rubs me the wrong way. Her nomination is a victory for left-wing racists and sexists everywhere. She was picked not only because she happened to be a minority woman, but also because of her racialist views. From the Economist:

"The ad refers to Ricci v DeStefano, a case involving firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut. The city told firefighters who wanted to be promoted that they had to take a test. But when no black firefighters passed, the city ignored the results and promoted no one. Several white firefighters sued for racial discrimination. Ms Sotomayor ruled against them. The case is now before the Supreme Court, which is expected to overturn Ms Sotomayor’s original decision."

your entire comment is a victory for the right-wing propaganda/lies machine. read through her entire speech before passing judgment on people you don't even know.

"Rush Limbaugh has his big-boy britches in a wad over the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court because she and President Obama are racists for thinking themselves not only equal to white people but superior to some...like Rush Limbaugh. By that standard, we are all racist!" -jezebel.com

Last night Karl Rove cited Sam Alito as providing comments against his former Appeals Court colleague that she isn't a team player. Further indication of this scumbag who surely is more representative of Princeton's values than Sotomayor. Like Woody Wilson, a racist revered by Princeton. When does he get his honorary degree?

@AC, Is it perhaps because you're a white male?
