Correction appended

For most collegiate swimmers, five All-America honors in one season would be the ultimate dream. But for senior swimmer Doug Lennox, his NCAA accomplishments did not hold a flame (pun intended) to having the opportunity to compete in ...

I disagree with this award choice. It should have gone to Alex Pessala hands down. That dude is a beast.

Any "subjective" Greatest award is always subject to dispute-- but Doug Lennox' performances were terrific and deserving of recognition. Congrats to Doug and Liz, and all Tiger athletes whose personal bests often fly under the radar of the sports media moguls.

There are plenty of other deserving male athletes: Alex Pessala, Zane Kalemba, Tyler Fiorita, Mauricio Sanchez, Jordan Culbreath and Daniel Dickerson are a few who come to mind right away. I agree with Mento, though. These awards are subjective so there is no "right" answer. Congrats to Doug for earning this award and to all the other male athletes for such amazing accomplishments this year!

Even though all the candidates are very impressive, I don't think it was a mistake to give Doug Lennox this award.

I think the key thing this article fails to mention is that Lennox was ranked 5th in the history of the world after his 100 yard butterfly performance at his conference meet.
At that point there had only been 4 people that had swam a faster 100 fly than him in the history of the world. I think that is absolutely remarkable.

And I dont think that Pessala, Kalemba, Fiorita, Sanchez, Culbreath, or Dickerson would say they are top 10 in the world in track and field, as a hockey goalie, as a lax goalie, as a running back, or as a diver (respectively).

The squash program is a better program as a whole nationally than the swim program, but even Sanchez knows that it is not America but Egypt that dominates the sport of squash. The world's absolute best competition is found there.

Lennox has gone up against the world's best competition in the olympics and during this past season, and when comparing times, he has risen to answer almost any challenge he was faced with. I think Lennox will leave Princeton as the best all-around swimmer this school has seen and hopefully known as one of the best athletes to ever attend this school.

When Doug Davis and Dan Mavraides are playing for the Dream Team, you will have an argument.

"This year’s senior class is the first since the 1997 class to win three conference titles."

Class of 2007 graduated with 3 titles
