A fine example of the double standards pervading our University...did anyone write a pity article for Alito when he was nominated? No, the Prince and other sources decided to contribute to the "unfair" attacks.
Here are the titles of the Daily Princetonian articles on Samuel Alito '72 when he was nominated to the Supreme Court during the previous administration:
\
"Alito '72 joined conservative alumni group"
\
"Advocacy group VP criticizes Alito"
\
Does this seem fair and balanced?
I think the key common phrase from both of these comments is "when he was nominated." Sotomayor hasn't been nominated yet. The timing makes the attacks premature. I'm sure there will be some analysis of Judge Sotomayor's time at PU if she is nominated. We already know from the other article that she was in som Latina groups, but other than that, it seems like she kept to herself and was pretty bookish. She didn't start her early career in politics like Alito did.

Frankly, if you haven't read the Rosen piece, you should. It's disgusting. For you Prince haters, it's a far worse hack job than anything you've ever read before, it'll help give you some perspective.

The author should have identified the Salon counter-article and provided hyperlinks to both Rosen's trash and the response from which the author seemed to get all of her counter points (the Salon article). She also misstated the Salon article's suggestion about who one of the "anonymous sources" could be, someone who would stand to profit by Kagan's appointment to the Court.

Kudos to the Professors talking on the record, always worth it to see what people are thinking / saying in academia.
Lady Justice is blindfolded for a reason. Justice should be color blind. I fear Sotomayor would peek and make a decision not based entirely on the law.
