never gonna dry you down, always gonna be lubed up

    Dear Sexpert,
Sorry, but you fail at lubricants--silicone lubes are completely safe with all condoms (it's the oil-based lubes you have to look out for). Silicone lubes are actually better for anal sex because they're "slipperier", as the silicone remain "wet" for a much longer time. They're always sugar-free and generally free of things like flavorings or colors, which could cause irritation problems. Silicone lube is also great for foreplay because it's quite slippery, and works as a great massage tool--your fingers will just glide right over your partner. Silicone lube is also suitable for aquatic use, if you're into that kind of stuff.

However, because of the nature of silicone (think like dissolves like), silicone lubes should NOT be used with silicone sex toys, as they may wear down such toys. Silicone is also quite a decent amount more expensive than other lubes, but remember that a little goes a long way!

Also, FYI, the FDA regulations on silicone-based lubes are such that then cannot be marketed as "personal lubricants" in the same class as like Astroglide, but rather as "body lubricants". Rest assured though, the EU has accepted silicone-based lubricants safe for internal use--you can even swallow that stuff, it's that inert.
