Congratulations Tigers on a big win in the men's varsity lightweight race to retain the Goldthwait Cup. But this is now the seventh straight year that Princeton has failed to bring home the Vogel Cup, given based on the performance of the 1V, 2V, 3V, 1F and 2F. Princeton failed to win this year because it cut its 2F like it does every year, while Harvard and Yale manage to put 2F boats out there, like they do every year. Maybe winning the Vogel Cup isn't the biggest deal but what is the logic of limiting the athletic opportunities for Princeton freshmen, especially when the marginal cost of keeping them is so small. Hard to understand.
Princeton didn't 'cut' its 2F because there was no 2F to begin with... everyone on the team raced and raced hard.
