Columbia had 9.8% as well...
This means we fall out of the top 3 in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. I'm not saying I agree with the ranking methodology, but it exists and it won't do us justice.
next year's US News: 1. Harvard 2. Yale 3. Stanford 4. Princeton. f***.
What the f***. I am pissed. the people in the admissions office have to get their act together ASAP. I remember the years when Princeton received just as many apps as Harvard and Yale (if not more than Yale) and our acceptance rate was just as low. What has happened to our recruitment efforts? Maybe we should send out more letters. This is unacceptable for Princeton.
it's been really downhill since rapelye has been appointed. the admissions office seems so complacent. where is the intense recruiting that all of our peer schools engage in? i realize that being aloof is one of princeton's foibles, but it's absolutely embarrassing when we are literally the only ivy that saw a higher acceptance rate.
didn't the administration argue that all of the recent major policy changes would help attract more people to princeton who were once turned off before? well, after the implementation of the grade deflation policy and the four year residential colleges, princeton attracts one of the smallest applicant pools among out peer schools. one of princeton's biggest selling points was our financial aid program, which was once, hands down, the best in the nation. now yale and harvard have more generous programs than we do.
Good job, administration. Good job.
Grade deflation, non-advertised financial aid, demonizing the eating clubs... I wouldn't find the school attractive either.
I really think Rapelye should be fired. What an idiotic decision...we are cutting down on our budget, and we admit more students. Smart.
Well...that's just embarrassing.
Since when is a sub-10% acceptance rate "embarrassing"? Get a grip.
Introduce an Early Action system for admissions so we can get at the superstars early. We don't need ED.
Eliminate Grade deflation or do a far better promoting or explaining it
Increase financial aid
