Boo to poster "11"! Dean Slaughter transformed the Woodrow Wilson School into a powerhouse for international politics and policy, and her recent writings and commentary on American foreign policy, geopolitics, and China have been deeply astute and insightful -- and exactly what the State Department needs right now. (And this from an MPA student specializing in Domestic Policy!)

AMS is all image and no substance. I bet Hillary puts up with her for six months, tops

Will Anne Marie's ghostwriters get jobs?

I hope Dean Slaughter brings along as staffers all of the undergraduates who wrote her recent books.

Good riddance. Slaughter has never belonged in academia.

Bizarre that such mediocre people get such important jobs just because they have manipulated their way up through the ranks

Since Slaughter continues to promote Woodrow Wilson as America's greatest President--ignoring his racism, his ideological rigidity, and his self-righteousness--it will be interesting to see what, if anything, she does at the State Dept. Meanwhile, Stan Katz should finally publish a second book and spend less time on the Obama transition team. If anyone has risen high without any real academic achievement, it is he.

Fluff. Her writings strike me as the stuff a student would BS in precept if he or she didn't do all of the readings but vaguely knew something or other about the topic. Her career isn't much better - she's ignored the students in her department so she could go fill out her resume with PPNS and a sabbatical in China. Ironic that after trying so hard to be Hillary's future secretary of state, the job gets stolen by Hillary herself (who is happy to provide a consolation prize to a fellow underachieving, underqualified career climber).
