Time for environmentalists to go green

    Excellent, well-written article! Personal changes are so much easier and more effective than lobbying for governmental change.

    I'm glad to see the Daily Princetonian addressing the importance of cutting back on animal products to help the environment. I think the key is to emphasize eating more plant based meals rather than going veg - we don't ask people to quit using gasoline completely, for example, and here we can show how easy it is to eat more plant based meals, just like people can take the bus more or put in more CFLs.

    I agree with AC. Excellent article on the benefits of truly "going green." It makes me feel like whatever small contribution I make will actually help.

    Great article. As a vegetarian myself, I definitely resonate with the point. However, though beef is the real culprit in this instance, the numbers comparing it to driving are exaggerated. Also, you should differentiate between beef, which is essentially as destructive and inefficient as you suggest, and chicken, which is more benign at least from an environmental standpoint.

    What "global warming"? Last time I checked, it was getting COLDER! Admit it, there is no global warming, the real reason is that environmentalists think Americans use more than their fair share of Earth's resources. Environmentalists want Earth's resources distributed "evenly" by introducing a Socialist One World Government. That's what "global warming" is really about.

    "It takes 12,009 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef and only 240 gallons of water to produce a pound of soybeans."

    And environmentalists think it's not fair that Americans use more than their "fair" share of water, i.e., they want the Socialist One World Government to distribute water evenly throughout the world.

    "We understand that it may not be politically feasible to advocate vegetarianism, but there is no excuse for ignoring the issue of meat altogether."

    It's not a question of advocating it, it's a question of being able to FORCE it with big government bureaucracies. Control of carbon is control of life.
