Why do I feel like this column is really the product of a bet between Professor Katz and a couple of his students over whether he could write a column referring to "S and M" and get away with it?!
Don't choose your major based on money! Do what you're interested in! Most of the people I know who went into investment banking are wealthy but miserable and are getting more boring every year. So, going in to finance is only worth it if it is legitimately your true passion, which I'm sure it is for only very few of you. Then again, the people I know who went into more intellectually stimulating careers (like me) are having a tough time affording a reasonable standard of living. It's kind of sad. What can we do about this?
Sam Norton just got BURNED!
bravo prof. katz; as for the sam norton express, that train has left town long ago
i don't agree with sam. but aren't you commenters being harsh? i mean, professor katz addressed this whole thing pretty well (at least he acknowledged the nuance in sam's argument). jesus, he's a freshman, probably humiliated as it is. he'll learn.
This article was very enjoyable. It is great to see a faculty member shed some issue on this topic.
This was a great article. Thanks for writing it.
Money is the only thing that matters in this world. Those who have money are winners, while those who don't are the dregs of society and deserve to be turned into food for the strong. Poor people should all be shot. I disagree with anyone who believes that colleges should exist to put out people to do anything but generate that cash.
I pity the poor comparative literature majors who have wasted years of their lives.
