The main problem with AI research to date has been that we've been assuming that the brain uses logic at the lowest levels. This is not Biologically Plausible. Instead, brains use a much simpler mechanism that simply aggregates past experience as re-usable chunks we might as well call micro-intuitions. Most people never learned Logic, but are still intelligent. If brains used logic, we would not need to practice arithmetic, and we'd be teaching toddlers English grammar. In fact, everything we do that improves with practice is done using intuition - walking, talking, and playing the piano. Logic plays no part.
Fortunately, intuition is quite straightforward to implement in computers. Artificial Intuition is a weaker and gentler but still very useful form of AI that we could achieve in the very near term with modest commitment. It enables "True Learning" as opposed to "Machine Learning" in computers.
