She asked me for my ping, of all things. So quickly rendered a social invalid, I confessed in a whisper that I didn't have a BlackBerry. Hence no BlackBerry Messaging, or BBM-ing, for me. I wonder if she knew ...(back to the article)

It's just phone that also gets email, freshman. Get over yourself.

The Daily Prince should stop accepting freshmen from the hum sequence.

maybe you haven't noticed yet, but princeton revolves around email. it's not about feeling important, it's about making it to your professor's office hours and tying up loose ends for your clubs and activities.

blackberry stuff appears to be superfluous, a lot of the articles by freshmen have left something to be desired, but zakin makes some really good points... i am deathly afraid that ill end up being a delivery boy for dominos or something bc my major really isnt practical

Pretty good point re: the campus' intellectual emptiness. Don't tell me y'all haven't felt the void in a seminar or precept on a topic that's presumably fascinating but rendered unfulfilling by the vapid/tired discussion.

Also real interesting when taken in tandem with Norton's editorial & the two reactionary responses. How "engaging" and "thoughtful" are we in the humanities, really? Are we "creative, imaginative and analytical", or are we reciting facts verbatim (hey, look, I did the reading!), or merely synthesizing others' arguments without offering our own slice?

We all know the purpose and the ideals of a liberal arts education, and they sound really, really noble and impressive when summoned up in defense of said arts.

But it looks like we're fucking 'em up. And, if so, why not dance down Norton's route?
