I saw this play in Memphis the other night and feel much the same way you did. Unlike you though, I never even the emotional score of terrified, just bored and feeling stupid for spending my evening that way. Between the ranting and raspy screaming of the minister, and the goofy and un-funny-ness of the only other character in the play, I found myself feeling like this was really just a poorly written play that never really arrived at any point of anything. Either entertain me, or make me think, but confined to a chair and socially forced to spectate the ramblings of the crazy and homeless is just not gonna make me glad I came, but will make me resentful that I had to pay with my time and real money too!
