Halcyon, we're so happy for you over here at Rutgers Prep! And the book sounds terrific! Congratulations.

Alex's father Laszlo was my roommate, classmmate and soccer teammate, and this was one of those "why do bad things happen to good people" moments we all struggle with. From what I heard at the memorial services in New York and Princeton, I'm sure Alex would have been especially approving of the clown project. Congratulations to both of you.

Congrats that is soooo exciting! But 7,000 seems like a lot for a summer, am I right? This is pretty large in terms of University awards, no? I hope they are asking for some good budgets... (Not that I think either of these two would take money from the U and spend it on other things...) It just seems like maybe it could be like four awards of 5,000 instead of three of 7,000. Still enough money to have a summer pursuing your dreams....

Dear Halcyon and Sam: We are so happy to hear about you and the projects you are able to pursue because of the Alex Awards. Halcyon, the one good thing that came out of Alex's illness and death is that his already loving family drew closer together. We embrace and celebrate our family even as you do yours. Sam, Alex would have gotten a huge kick our of your clown project. He undoubtedly would have said "Why didn't I think of that!?" We hope to meet you one day soon, and look forward to following your many successes yet to come! Fondly, Winky and Laszlo, parents of Alex Adam
