Professor and acclaimed translator Robert Fagles dies

Robert Fagles, the Arthur Marks ’19 professor of comparative literature emeritus, passed away in Princeton last Wednesday after a battle with prostate cancer. Fagles was best known for his translations of Greek epic poems and other widely read classic texts. ...(back to the article)

    I took Prof. Fagles' freshman seminar in Fall 1998, and found it remarkable that, in spite of his stature in the literary world, he always made his students feel that their thoughts and insights were valuable. Princeton has lost a great and inspiring teacher.
