Give Josh credit? Are you joking? The only reason why the ball got rolling on this is because Brandon McGinley up and called USG out for not doing anything. After that all of a sudden, Weinstein and Co. had to do something to actually make a change. If nobody had called them on their inaction, nothing would have happened. Also, I want someone to bring up the point that the entire NOTION of the 4-year residential college is kind of ridiculous. I mean do we really need our hands held an extra two years? Ultimately independent style living should increase, seeing as college should prepare us for the life beyond, instead of contrived community and meals prepared for us in a cathedral. More Spelman-esque housing would make sense.

I agree that Josh deserves big credit for this. We should be glad to have a real advocate.

Maybe the University should learn to consult with the various governing bodies before making their unilateral decisions, instead of making their decisions first and having them backfire.

Would someone please just go ahead and fire Nancy Malkiel? Every decision she makes only sets undergraduates back as she and the others over at Nassau Hall continue implementing their utopian vision of this school run with lame AI/res. college social events and crap food.

I, for one, appreciate like hell what Weinstein just did for upperclassmen-- Wright should be upperclass housing, no questions. I feel as if, left unabated by the USG, the University would have done whatever it wanted in line with what it thought its best interests were, similar to the alcohol policy change. Weinstein saw a similar situation occurring, and this time stepped in to stop it. Kudos.

"He acknowledged, however, that the administration may increase the number of beds in four-year colleges if they determine that student interest in drawing into them grows." Didn't they explicitly promise that the 4yr colleges would not reduce the number of upperclassmen available to take meals on the street, since it would be limited to 300 total? If so, are they really backing out of that commitment after a single year?

“It seems like the survey in conjunction with the meetings we’ve been having over the past few months really influenced their decision to not add Wright into Whitman,” Weinstein said. Wow. Not self-important at all.
