On the Democratic side, we believe that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) would be a unifying leader, as he has demonstrated through his success among independent and Republican voters in the early primaries and through his record of public service in ...(back to the article)

@P'08 Obama had the good judgment to know that we shouldn't begin military action before the inspectors had been able to finish their job. He also understood that there are numerous rogue nations with WMD stockpiles and that Iraq posed no serious threat to us or allies in the region at the time. Finally, Obama understood that we would not be greeted as liberators and that we would cause great instability in the region rather than successfully export democracy. In voting for the war, Clinton showed either extraordinary naivete, poor judgment, or political cowardice. Take your pick. You can access Obama's 2002 speech against the war at http://www.barackobama.com/2002/10/02/remarks_of_illinois_state_sen.php

when Hillary voted for the war, she believed (like Bush and the rest of Congress) that Iraq had WMDs. those of you championing Obama's vote against the war: did he believe that Iraq had WMDs and still vote against the war (a scary prospect) or did he have some sort of information that Bush and the rest of Congress didn't?

(Same Obama08 that wrote that "Obama is excellence personified"): In response to Anon. 3:39pm Feb 5th-- I don't need to list Obama's policy positions. You can read them in depth, as I have, at www.barackobama.com. There, you'll find more than rhetoric. You'll find the details you're looking for. As for the experience issue, Hillary was dead wrong on the war... where was all of the good judgment that experience is supposed to give her then? Princeton's own Toni Morrison wrote a wonderful endorsement of Obama based on his wisdom, something she correctly identified not as an attribute one aquires even with the longest resume, but a matter of personal character. Finally, I agree with you that neither Obama nor Clinton will be able to "snap their fingers" to get their policy proposals written into law. What will they need? They will need to pick up a bunch of seats in congress so they can have a democratic majority supportive of their proposals. Now, I ask you: Is not charisma, optimism, excellent voter turnout, and the kind of excitement and fundraising coming from the Obama camp absolutely critical to make that happen? Obama 08 all the way: He can win the general election. He can win a democratic majority in congress. And then he can win the policy changes we're all hungry for.

Get out and vote our country depends on it....now pass this around........ Subject: 23 Ways To Be A Good Democrat 1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand. 2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity. 3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. Nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists. 4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding. 5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's. 6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. 7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding. 8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach fourth graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex. 9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do. 10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it. 11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only. 12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution. 13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high. 14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison, and Alex ander Graham Bell. 15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not. 16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person. 17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge. 18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House. 19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drags, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal. 20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States . 21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy. 22. You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers the day off on Christmas Day .........but it's not okay to say "Merry Christmas." 23. You have to believe that law breaking illegal invaders should have more rights than citizens and should also go unpunished. Ready to vote?

"Obama is excellence personified and he won't just bring Americans together, he'll bring all the world together." Unfortunately, it is this blind rhetoric that characterizes a good percentage of Obama supporters. It is not as if someone can snap their fingers and make all of our problems go away. Hillary knows what it takes to stand up against her opponents' attacks to get things done. She has been doing it for years and has the record to show for it. Frankly, I don't feel comfortable voting for someone with very little experience in Washington. You have to understand how the political system works in order to improve it.

Anon #2: You've gotta be kidding if you think McCain would beat Obama! As for "dirty-playing," I don't think you need to look any farther than the Clinton camp. Personally I haven't "fallen for" Obama like a school girl for 'nsync. Instead, I've decided not to settle for mediocrity. Obama is excellence personified and he won't just bring Americans together, he'll bring all the world together. Vote Obama!

I am a socially liberal, fiscally conservative Independent. (Currently leaning Republican, but my party loyalties change depending on circumstances.) I respect Obama as a very thoughtful and amiable person. That having been said, I can't think of any achievements of his that would make him worthy of the most important office in the world. Being likable and giving inspiring speeches is all good, but it had better be backed up by a record of achievement. What I find disturbing about the Democratic candidates during this election cycle is that all of them lack executive experience. None of them have been in charge of any significant organization, and therefore have no record to run on. Both Clinton and Obama have been Senators, where your main responsibility is casting yes or no votes, but where you don't get any of the managerial experience you'll need as President. PS: Both of your endorsements strike me as very poorly written, in a stream-of-consciousness sort of way.

I'm really disappointed to see that the Prince endorsed Obama. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise since it seems like most left-leaning college students have fallen for his style over Clinton's substance. I doubt the endorsements of this and other college papers will sway more than a few thousand votes nationwide. Hopefully those won't be the ones that put the presidency in the hands of the ancient and dirty-playing McCain.
