    I loved reading this! I too have fallen into the colon trap...I think it was mostly a sign of a gnawing fear that my work wasn't really smart enough. A nice clever-sounding title should fix that! Sigh. Of course it never did. Thanks for the reminder that pithiness can be a great stylistic move!

    As someone with a hyphenated surname (by birth) I have to disagree with 'colon cleanser.' It's too often cultural to be written off as solely pretentious.
